Spring sprung, then it left, now it's back!

It would be really great if Mother Nature could make up her mind!  We had some crazy snowfall in N. Texas over the weekend.  Our house, covered in the fluffy white stuff, is pictured to the right.  We got close to 5 inches!  Considering last weekend we were planting in our flower beds and wearing shorts, it came as a little bit of a surprise, but it was a welcome excuse to stay inside all weekend, relax, and get some things done around the house.

Last week I posted a shot of my daffodils that were blooming beautifully... here they are now.  I hope they bounce back!  We also have some planters on the back patio with Day Lillys and Hibiscus.  I shook the snow off of everything as soon as I could.  Replanting everything really does not sound fun to me.  Especially since the planters survived the winter in the garage.  I hope all of that nurturing wasn't for nothing!

We didn't let the little chicaritas outside to play in the snow, but we did let Winston out.  Mainly because he saw me go outside to shake the snow off of the flowers and had a fit trying to get outside with me.  Here's a snippit of Winnie playing in the snow...

We spent the weekend hanging out and relaxing.  I did some major purging and have a trunk full of things to take to Goodwill today at lunch.  Cleaning out our 'storm shelter' prompted the massive decluttering/purging.  As I've mentioned before, I hate storm season and run for the closet any time the sirens go off!  We have a pretty nice set up in the closet under the stairs - Ava's crib mattress, lots of blankets and comforters, weather radio, flashlights, extra leash for Winston, etc.  I'm not looking forward for storm season, but I feel much better now that I feel like we are prepared.

On a final note, getting up this morning was WAY easier!  I don't know if it's that we've finally all adjusted to DST, or if spring break being over and life going back to normal, or a little bit of both, but it definitely was nice this morning not feeling so tired.  And, Spring is back today!  It was a little chilly this morning, but we're expecting a high of 68* today.  Hard to believe that yesterday we had all of that snow.  I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Spring has Sprung!

...and with it comes beautiful & sunny days (nice), flowers blooming (nice), yardwork (yuck), storm season (yuck x3) and daylight savings time (nice & yuck at the same time!).

We spent the weekend working outside in our flowerbeds. When I say 'we' I do mean me and the husbie. He is the best at helping me with stuff like that! I planted quite a few Magnolia bushes and I can't wait for them to start blooming. Our daffodils have come up and they are so pretty.

Daylight savings time has been such a struggle for me. It's so nice to get home and have 2-3 hours of sun that the girls and puppy can go out and play, but the morning is such a beating! The last two days I've done all I can to roll out of bed at 7. Hopefully my body will figure out what time it really is, in the meantime coffee and diet coke are my friends.

Something new I've discovered that has been keeping Ava (otherwise known as 'LB' for 'Lady Bug') outside has been this great new water activity table that I got her last week. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it sooner! She loves to play in the bath and the pool, so why not keep it contained in a table? It was a great distraction for her while we were working on our flowerbeds and even Winston is enjoying it. I picked it up at Walmart, but there is also a great selection available through Amazon.com, Toys'R'Us and Target. This one suited LB best because it has gears that turn when the water is poured in a cup (she loves this), plus there is no sand involved. I know what would happen if we had sand + water = a muddy mess!

Yesterday after we got home, LB and Winston played out side while I made dinner. Haley & Austin were gone, so they just entertained themselves! Winston's favorite toy these days is a wiffle ball. He loves to play fetch with it and usually throws it for himself a time or two on the way back.

I hope that everyone is having a great spring and is better adjusting to the time change than I am!
