Wedding Fashion Advice Needed!

We're attending a wedding in a couple of weeks for husbie's stepsister, I need a dress, and I think it's time I try Rent the Runway.  I'm a little nervous, as I've never tried it before, but I am so tired of buying cocktail-type dresses and either a. only wearing them once or b. wearing them multiple times and then every picture of husbie and I dressed up is with me wearing one of a handful of dresses.  Rent the Runway seems like the perfect solution!

I found a bunch of dresses that I really, really like and I need help selecting one.

As far as the level of dress, here are the details:  the wedding is at 5:30 PM at a country club in the area.  It's not a glitzy, super dressy wedding.  Husbie will be wearing a suit.

Here are the ones that made my final cut:

I really don't have a front runner, so if y'all would weigh in and vote for your favorite, I would be forever grateful!  :)

WorkWear Wednesday - Obsessed With Pencil Skirts Edition

Work Wear Wednesday is back and is all about skirts this week.  I end up wearing skirts most of the spring and summer, so now is the perfect time to start finding some cute pieces.  I went to The Limited last week and they have some really unique pencil skirts right now.  I love a bright colored bottom and a neutral top!  Another thing I am loving is Stella & Dot jewelry.  I wasn't extremely familiar with their pieces until I won Aly's Stella & Dot giveaway a few weeks ago and picked up the cute necklace I was wearing when I did my dialect vlog.

So, without further adieu, here are my fun skirt picks for spring:

Which pieces are your favorite, or what are your favorite spring trends to wear to work?

Our Engagement Photos

Kaysie over at Chasers of Kaysers is doing a Show Me Your Engagement Photos link up.  Here are ours!  We loved our photographer, Kevin from Kevin Curtis Photography in Dallas.  We had them taken in the Arts District downtown.  The only thing I didn't like about our pictures was my outfit.  the top I liked, but I wore the business-y knee length black shorts that were popular when we were having them taken.  Stupid, stupid, stupid.  My best advice for people getting engagement pictures taken is not to wear anything TOO trendy.  I stopped liking those shorts about a week after we had them taken.  Grr.  So, my favorite pictures are the ones of the upper half of our bodies.  ;)

If you want to participate, head on over to Kaysie's post to link up!

Movie Review - Just Go With It

via
This weekend husbie and I went to see Just Go With It starring Jennifer Aniston & Adam Sandler.  We loved it!

The premise is that Danny (Adam Sandler) wears a wedding band to pick up girls at bars because 1. girls want what someone already has and 2. it ensures no commitment will ever be expected.  It's all well and good until he meets a girl, Palmer (Brooklyn Decker), that he really likes and forgot to put the band on.  She finds it in his pocket and everything goes south from there.  So, Danny invents a fake ex-wife, Katherine (Jennifer Aniston).  He arranges a meeting between the two of them to get her blessing.  They are wrapping up when one of Katherine's kids called and Palmer realizes that they have children, complicating Danny's fake plot.

My thoughts from the movie:

I love light romantic Adam Sandler comedies!  This one is similar to 50 First Dates, which is one of my absolute all-time favorites.

Brooklyn Decker was so great!  This is her first movie roll and I think she was absolutely perfect.  There is also a fun cameo by her real-life husband, Andy Roddick.

Jennifer Aniston looks amazing, as always.  I had several moments of wanting to put down my popcorn, go run and do some situps.

Heidi Montag is in this movie for a hot second.  The collective audience groan when she came out was fantastic.  Allegedly, Jennifer Aniston had her banned from the premier of the movie - her people deny the claim, but I don't think anyone would blame her.

I will totally by this movie when it comes out on DVD!  It's cute, light and sweet, my favorite kind of movie.  :)

My rating - go see this now!

Ice, ice, ice. Snow, snow, snow.

Sooo, we're going on Day 4 of being snowed in here in North Texas.  To all of you Northerners, I'm sure it is somewhat amusing that y'all deal with this stuff all winter long, and we deal with it for a week and subsequently whine about it 10x what we should.

Yesterday we were predicted to get 1-2" today.  Famous last words.  So far, we are at 5 inches and it's still coming down...

So, what have we been doing the past 4 days?  The girls have been rotating between Wii, toys, TV, movies, repeat.  I must say, they have been exceptionally good.  I can tell they are wearing down today, but we're heading outside to play in the snow in 20 minutes or so, so that should tucker them out enough for naptime.  Yay!  Quiet!  :)

As for husbie and I, we're both still trying to get some work done.  Try as I might to get him to let me put a second desk in his office, he's not budging, so I have set up shop in our dining room.  Tuesday I sat on the couch in front of the TV, but I felt like a sloth that wasn't very productive, so I moved in here.  Another reason was to watch as my neighbors tried to navigate our street.  There have been a couple of near-misses (see our neighbor's truck parked in front of our house & where they alley across the street lets out?  not smart, neighbor), but no one has hit anything... yet.

I haven't been able to run in a week, which sucks big time.  Coupled with the winter food we have been eating, I am feeling like a bowl full of jelly.  Hopefully I can get back on the routine tomorrow!  All of this seriously has me looking around our house for someplace where I can stick a treadmill.  We did make s'mores two nights in a row, which was very fun.  Before this week, Ava thought she didn't like marshmallows (crazy, right?).  Then she tried a toasted one.  Now she is in love.

We're heading outside now, so possibly more pictures to come later, plus my favorite iPhone apps (obviously Instagram is topping the list these days).  Hope everyone is staying warm, wherever you are!

Thanks for the love!

Thanks to everyone who commented on this post!  Through the comments of everyone, y'all were able to articulate everything I was trying to say, but didn't necessarily get out in the post.  Much love to all of you!  Thanks for being such sweet bloggy friends.  :)
