The Good News & The Not So Good News

So, the good news first:

In 50 days, I will be heading here:

Laying out here...

Sipping one of these...

Doing a little of this...

And seeing some of this...

With my favorite sisters...

Now for the bad news - for my DFW girls - if you've done the math you realize that is the same weekend as the Dallas Blogger Meetup.  Massive sadface.

BUT, while I am so sad to miss the meetup, I am so happy to be heading to Puerto Rico with my sisters!  We've been wanting to plan a sister trip for the longest time and everything finally fell into place.  Yay, BEACH!

If anyone has any Puerto Rico tips, let me know!  We're staying in Dorado but will be renting a car for a day or two of our trip.

Catching Up... SO MIA!

I have been SO completely MIA from my blog!  I knew May would be crazy, I just underestimated how completely crazy it would be.  I zig-zagged across the country all month long and I couldn't have been happier to be home the entire Memorial Day weekend!

In the midst of everything, I also caddied for my dad in the Byron Nelson Pro-Am and attended the tournament the rest of the week.  Here we are a couple of years ago (I forgot my camera this year.  Oops!):

Here I am with Vijay Singh, who my dad's team was paired with:

A couple of weeks ago we had the bachelorette party for one of my girlfriends.  I did wear the cute little romper/jumpsuit I picked up at Express before my Vegas trip.  It worked perfectly!  The only thing that is not-so-great is when you have to go to the restroom.  Having to almost completely take your outfit off in a bar bathroom is not so fun.

Before we went out, all the girls went to a lap dancing class at The Girls' Room in Dallas.  I'm not sure what I thought of the class - I was pretty excited going in.  I expected it to be learning sexy dance moves for my husband.  What I didn't realize is that we would be practicing on each other.  Yep, that's right, grinding on your friends.  I would have been much more comfortable with a dummy, as Austin suggested.  Here's the bride getting demonstrated on by the teacher:

There were polls in the private room we were in, which all the girls wanted to give a quick little swing on - no reason not to channel your inner stripper, I suppose.  I can tell you right now that I would make a crappy stripper!  No upper arm strength.  A few of the girls might do well, if they ever lose their day jobs!  Here's the teacher demo-ing the move we were supposed to try.  I got no where near close to this position.

All-in-all, we had a really great time.  It was fun to have a girls' night, which I hope to do more often!  It gets so easy to get caught up in suburbia with the husband, kids, dog, house, yard, etc, etc, etc, that I forget to have me time with the girls.

There's lots to catch up on, which I will be trying to do this week!  My June schedule is nice-and-easy.  I think our only big events are Haley's last day of school, her recital, and a quick weekend trip to Hot Springs for Father's Day weekend.

I hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend and has a great (and short) week!

Mocke Monkie Goes to Vegas

I only ever go to Vegas for work.  It's a drag.  I don't know what it is like to be there on vacation, which at some point I would like to do, and husbie and I are planning on doing next year.

I was there last week for a conference and took along a couple of travel companions, husbie (we were hoping to make it kind of a vacation - this did NOT happen.  Boo.) and Mocke Monkie.

Mocke Monkie is a great travel companion.  He hangs out in my bag, doesn't complain, and pops out when it is time for a photo opp.  Think Flat Stanley meets Kia Commercial (feat. Sock Monkey).  Before I get into the pics, a little background on the Monkie traveling is that my sis is obsessed with Sock Monkeys.  A couple of years ago, she started taking her original Sock Monkey places with her and taking pictures.  From there, my siblings and I ran with it, claiming one of her various Sock Monkey's with us to take pictures, then the facebook page was born.  Socke Monkie has been a proud facebook member since 2009 and keeps everyone updated of his world travels via his photos.  It's silly, really, but we want to eventually have an album of all of the places we've taken him.  We're easily amused.  :)

Here's Mocke (brother of Socke and a little smaller) enjoying the ride to the airport.  My car was at the body shop (if you want to know why, click here.  Oops.) and husbie hooked me up with a sweet rental car.

Hanging out at the Bellagio.

And the big lion in front of the MGM Grand.

Partying his way down the strip.

Having a couple of drinks at the Ghost Bar.  (Which Mocke and I do NOT recommend wasting your time on.  This place is past it's prime.)

Getting a *tiny* bit of relaxation time at the Palms Pool.  The Palms = somewhere else I do NOT recommend.  Here's my review on TripAdvisor.com.

Oh, and I did pick up this romper to go out in.  Stupidly, I didn't have husbie take a picture.  But, it worked out really cute and I'll be wearing it to a bachelorette party in a couple of weeks.  I'm sure to have lots of pictures from that one.

We're thinking that we'll stay at Planet Hollywood whenever we go back.  We've heard good things but haven't stayed there ourselves.  Anyone have any Vegas hotel recommendations?
