Monday Musings (aka: Random, Random, Random!)

Hey girlies!  I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  I have a whole bunch of random to throw out into the universe, so hang with me...

Steelers are headed to the Superbowl...
Image via espn.com
Woo hoo!  Heath Miller is my homeboy, for reals.  Anyway, super excited that the Steelers will be in town for the big game.  While my dad has informed my siblings and I not to expect that he would be getting tickets to the game (I cannot believe that he wouldn't pay $2K per ticket. haha - kidding!), we are still going to try to seek out some Steelers parties/rallies.  No one is looking forward to it more than my sweet Ava, who is quite possibly the biggest 4 year old football fan ever.  So funny!  She got to school today and told her teacher all about how the Steelers beat the Jets and now we need to beat the Packers so that we can WIN the Superbowl.  So cute!

Best find of the week...
Yumilicious.   OMG, so ...wait for it... yumilicious.  Ha!  Sorry, I had to.  Anyway, Ava and I went for a break from running errands yesterday and I had the red velvet fro-yo.  If you follow me on Twitter, you probably saw my tweet a couple of weeks ago about Sonic's Red Velvet Cheesecake Blast.  I put just a few cheesecake bits on my fro-yo and it tasted almost exactly the same.  Yum, yum!  Here's Av with her chocolate with sprinkles.  They have several DFW-area locations and a couple of others.  Their location here is within walking distance of my office.  This is going to be dangerous - especially this summer!

Currently sick of...
People beating the shit out of my car in parking lots.  I came out of World Market yesterday to a HUGE scratch/dent in the side of my car from someone hitting it with theirs.  So.freaking.rude.
Our downstairs heater being out.  It went out Thursday night - which was one of the coldest nights of the year.  Fantastic.  We are waiting on a new something-or-other to come in, it is supposed to be here today.  So, I am waiting for a call to head home so they can get that sucker up and going.  Rotating space heaters is getting old.

Sister beach vacay...
So, my sisters and I are trying to plan a weekend trip to somewhere warm and tropical, which is proving to be excessively difficult.  Our middle sister is a Labor & Delivery nurse and in school pursuing her NP degree, so trying to do it around her schedule is ridiculous.  Also, we're trying to do it this spring and we have waited WAY too long - flights are expensive and hard to get to pretty much anywhere tropical.  We thought about doing a Bahamas cruise, but everything I am reading online says the weekend cruises are on crappy boats with sub-par food.  Has anyone done a weekend cruise out of Florida?  (don't care which port)  We wanted to do Bahamas because it stops somewhere each day, but now I'm reading that a large portion of the time the boats can't even stop at the private island because of rough water.  Boo.  We may be putting this sucker off until the fall.

Giveaways...
I try to always post giveaways on my sidebar, but I wanted to call these out in a post because they are super fun:
  • Wine-a-Rita Party in a Box from Megan @ In This Wonderful Life
Yum, yum, yum!  I'm majorly kind of wanting a Peach Bellini right now.  Basically, Wine-a-Rita are box mixes that you combine with your favorite kind of wine (sparkly, flat, or otherwise) to create different drinks such as the above mentioned Peach Bellini, CosmoRita, Wine Glace', and SenorRita.  Megan also mentioned that they have a new flavor coming out in February.  The winner will be announced next Sunday, 1/30.  Details available here.
  • $50 Your Choice Giveaway from Neely @ Life of Neely
To celebrate 300 followers, Neely is giving her readers a $50 gift card of your choice to one of her favs - Target, Starbucks, Sephora, Anthropologie, LuLuLemon, or Banana Republic.  This one ends next Monday, 1/31.  Details available here.

Little Ponies Soccer 2010

Ava's soccer team had their second-to-last game today (before the massive thunderstorms and tornado threats came).  It's hard to believe the season has flown by so quickly!  In typical crammer-style fashion, I just submitted the photo book I made for her coaches 2 minutes ago (it is 2:18 AM - eek!) and paid the exhorbidant overnight shipping rate to get the book here by Friday.  Just in time for their last game next Saturday.  It took forever, probably because I have 700+ photos from the season.  Craziness.

Here's the final project.  I hope they love it!  Her coaches are so sweet and patient with all of the girls, I wanted to do a bigger-than-usual something for them and give them something they could keep for a long time...

Weekend Wrap Up

Another weekend flew right by!  And, as usual, I felt like I didn't get nearly enough done!

Friday night we settled in to watch the Rangers.  As it turns out, Winston is a pretty big baseball fan.  He is not a sit still kind of dog, but he did for baseball.  It was very funny!  Husbie's iPhone totally gave us the crazy eyes, but here we are:

We paused the game to make a quick trip to our new Dairy Queen, which turned out to not be so quick.  I should have snapped a picture - the line was completely wrapped around the building.  Husbie ran in while we stayed in the drive thru to see which would be fastest.  He was back out in less than 10!  The car we had been behind in the drive thru line hadn't even gotten up to order.  Crazy!  I got the French Silk Pie blizzard.  So yummy!  I love that they have the mini size now, it is the perfect amount.

Saturday morning, Ava had a soccer game.  Here she is before:

It's so funny to watch them all run around in a little pack chasing the ball!  The team we played was pretty viscious - they were knocking our girls down all over the place, which I never would have thought anything of, until husbie overheard the little girl that had just pushed Ava down, "Mommy, I pushed her down just like you said to!"  WTH?  This is U4 girls' soccer.  The last time I checked, we weren't playing tackle football.

Our girls are the ones in the red jersey's - both teams had exactly the same color uniforms (pink, who would have thought? ;) ).  I will say, the family did redeem themselves to a degree.  The dad brought the girl over afterward, gave Ava a Scooby Snack peace offering and apologized.  It was all nice until the dad went on and on about how it was an accident.  If you are going to apologize, don't lie during the apology!  UGH!  Oh well, I know we will be dealing with parents like this for the rest of her athletic career, so no sense getting worked up over it.
After her game, we ran to the mall to pick up some black flat boots for me.  I was completely unsuccessful - there will be a separate blog post coming up about this one, pending a conversation with Steve Madden's District Manager.

Saturday afternoon, my women's league hosted a holiday shopping event at a wine bar here in town.  It was very fun and there were so many vendors there with really unique merchandise.  I picked up a handful of things and have plans to order some more closer to Christmas.

Sunday we hung out around the house, did laundry & grocery shopping and decorated pumpkins.  Here are our pumpkins - I think they turned out really pretty cute.

I hate carving pumpkins, so we decided to paint and glitter instead.  We'll probably do a couple more after we go to the pumpkin patch next weekend.  I hope the weather is just as nice as it was this weekend!

After dinner Ava and I practiced soccer for awhile - I am trying to create fun games for her so that practicing is fun and she can get really excited about it.  It was so nice outside.  I love this time of year (but wouldn't mind if it were a little cooler during the day).

Once we got the girls into bed we caught up on all of our weekend TV shows that we had on the DVR.  For some reason, my Making the Squad  did not record.  Boo!  It is on again today so I'm looking forward to watching it when I get home.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Happy Monday!

Weekend Wrap Up - In Pictures

Last weekend was crazy busy, so I thought I would share in pictures!  Here we go:

Haley's birthday was on Saturday, so on Friday we celebrated her birthday with my mom.  She opened presents and we went to Olive Garden for dinner.  Saturday morning:

Haley woke up to a doughnut cake I fashioned out of yummy goodness from Dunkin' Doughnuts.  They are Haley's favorite (and who am I kidding, mine too!).  We had chocolate milk and doughnuts and opened more presents:

She got this darling little outfit (and Ava got one, too):

I am thinking this is a brilliant recipe for a Christmas card picture.  :)  After she opened all of her presents we headed to Ava's first soccer practice:

It appears I have a little Mia Hamm in the making.  Her little team is completely adorable:

She got a little extra encouragement from Daddy:

Speaking of Daddy, his birthday was Sunday.  We went to play golf to celebrate:

As I rocked my newest hair style - the side ponytail.  Thanks to all of the girlies who tweeted support of the side ponytail!

Get ready for a MEGA WorkWear Wednesday post tomorrow because it has been forever since I have done one!
